Xylan coatings are the most versatile and dependable industrial fluoropolymer coatings on the market. Unlike traditional fluoropolymer coatings, Xylan coatings are composite materials. They combine lubricants with the lowest coefficients of friction with high temperature resistant organic polymers to form plastic alloys with unique properties. Xylan coatings are widely used to reduce friction, improve wear resistance, protect against corrosion and provide a non-stick surface.

Xylan coatings are used extensively in a wide variety of industries, including automotive, aeronautics, commercial bakeware, food processing, electrical, garden tools, machinery, mold release, pharmaceutical, medical, offshore, petroleum, construction, chemical processing, reprographics, water, waste water, personal care items, industrial equipment, and housewares.

Xylan Characteristics:

  • Coefficient of friction as low as 0.02.
  • Superior wear resistance even under extreme pressure.
  • Excellent corrosion and chemical resistance against: water, salt water, acids, bases, solvents, and other fluids
  • Remarkable weather resistance against: sunlight, salt water and road chemicals.
  • Wide temperature operating range from -420°F to +550°F (-250°C to 285°C).
  • Flexible curing schedule up to 750ºF (400ºC)
  • Wide range of colors.
  • Outstanding pliability: many Xylan coatings bend freely and repeatedly without breaking.
  • Machineability: After applying multiple coats, some Xylan formulations can be machined to fit.
  • Excellent adhesion to many materials, including metals, plastics, ceramics, wood, and itself.

Special Properties of Xylan Formulations

Ideal for industrial and mechanical applications, the Xylan 1000 Series is the most versatile, dependable industrial fluoropolymer coating on the market. It demonstrates excellent adhesion to a variety of materials.

Applications of Xylan 1000 Series:

  • Xylan 1006 is well suited for industrial and mechanical applications that only require moderate wear and abrasion resistance. For example, components which tend to gall or items that must function after periods of non-use.
  • Xylan 1010 is a dry film lubricant that works well on a number of surfaces to reduce friction even at high loads. It prevents wear and galling, and provides additional lubrication in the event of the failure of the primary lubricant. It features a low coefficient of friction, very good non-stick release properties, exceptional chemical resistance, and operates at high temperatures. Xylan 8110 is similar to 1010 but is FDA compliant.
  • Xylan 1014 contains significantly more bonding resin than other Xylan formulas which produces a harder finish that is glossier, less porous, and more abrasion resistant. Xylan 1014 is an ideal coating for hardware and fasteners and machinery exposed cold weather conditions that needs protection from chemicals, corrosive agents, and abrasives.
  • Xylan 1052 is designed for high pressure, low speed, mechanical wear applications. Its dual lubricant system of PTFE and Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) provides lubrication for bearing surfaces up to 150,000 psi.
  • Xylan 1070 is a low-friction coating designed to protect hardware, fasteners, and flanges that operate in salt water environments. Special additives enable Xylan 1070 to provide exceptional corrosion protection and salt spray protection.
